Enterprise shelter stays open

March 3, 2007

The American Red Cross shelter in Enterprise, Alabama, will remain open again this evening:

First Baptist Church
302 North Main Street (Map)

Meals will be served there as well, for the many people working to salvage and secure their property who don’t have electricity or the time to prepare food.

Birmingham response update

March 2, 2007

The Birmingham Area Chapter reports the following:

  • 7 homes with major damage, 1 with minor damage in the Westwood Gardens area
  • Disaster Assessmet still underway near Main Street in Adamsville
  • Breakfast served to 125 people in affected neighborhoods - lunch on the way
  • Red Cross caseworkers are canvassing the area, evaluating the local needs
  • 30 total Red Cross workers involved locally

The shelter at the Mountain Street Church of God has closed.


Feeding operations - Enterprise

March 2, 2007

The American Red Cross has dispatched four of our Emergency Response Vehicles to Enterprise, Alabama. Those trucks are equipped to deliver meals and snacks into affected neighborhoods.
