Enterprise Shelter Remains Open Monday Night

We have had a number of inquiries about the American Red Cross shelter in Enterprise.

The facility will remain open again Monday night.

Freezing Temps Expected

The shelter at First Baptist Church of Enterprise will be open tonight, Sunday, March 4, to accommodate tornado victims as temperatures drop near freezing.

Enterprise shelter stays open

The American Red Cross shelter in Enterprise, Alabama, will remain open again this evening:

Meals will be served there as well, for the many people working to salvage and secure their property who don’t have electricity or the time to prepare food.

Abbeville Shelter Closed

The American Red Cross shelter in Abbeville (Henry County) has been closed. The Wiregrass Area Chapter has found alternative lodging for all those who were in that facility.

Birmingham response update

March 2, 2007

The Birmingham Area Chapter reports the following:

  • 7 homes with major damage, 1 with minor damage in the Westwood Gardens area
  • Disaster Assessmet still underway near Main Street in Adamsville
  • Breakfast served to 125 people in affected neighborhoods - lunch on the way
  • Red Cross caseworkers are canvassing the area, evaluating the local needs
  • 30 total Red Cross workers involved locally

The shelter at the Mountain Street Church of God has closed.


Wilcox County operation

March 2, 2007

The Red Cross location in Wilcox County will not be operating as a shelter, but is instead operating as a staging center.

All those who needed a place to stay in Wilcox County had already made arrangements to stay with family or friends in the area.

Birmingham Area Shelter

March 2, 2007

The Birmingham Area Chapter is running a shelter in Adamsville in Jefferson County, to serve those displaced by storm damage to their homes Thursday.
